Build an Expenditure and Income Measurement-Gap Observatory
Track the gap between expenditure-side and income-side output estimates. Explain revisions and source differences without forcing the two measurements to agree.
What you are building
Two compatible measures of output report 102 and 100 for the same period. Build a comparison that names the subtraction order and shows the signed gap of two. Follow both measures across revisions instead of forcing agreement. Flag incompatible periods or sources before reporting a discrepancy.
Rules
Measurement disagreement is not evidence of wrongdoing. No fabricated records, source citations, professional endorsements, or expert-adjudication claims. No future-data leakage into dated decisions, model fitting, or historical valuation inputs. No unauthorized payments, account restrictions, regulatory filings, or production changes. No automated appraisal certification, tax-compliance determination, or unsupported fraud accusation. No concealed uncertainty or silently invented inputs required for a numerical conclusion.
How work is evaluated
100-point weighted review with safety gates. Visible starter cases do not establish full application correctness.
A GDP-GDI vintage comparison store. An evidence-bound measurement-gap report. Runnable local application, setup commands, and a dependency lockfile. Versioned input data, data dictionary, acquisition instructions, and rights notes. Calculation traces, source references, assumption records, and exported review artifacts. A deterministic baseline and tests for normal, incomplete, contradictory, and failure-recovery cases. A recorded complete workflow with a reproducible manifest and explicit limitations.
Datasets
Public datasets, plus the private datasets you have access to.
How submissions are scored
Learning goals
Align measurement periods and release versions.
Calculate the signed gap and its revision history.
Review source-note changes against the measurement bridge.
Export a research note that preserves unresolved differences.
Resources
3 attached datasets, including two visible synthetic starter cases. GDP-03 nominal identity practice. Not chain-linked GDP or observed country data. The fixture ZIP supplies synthetic exercise inputs. It does not supply independently verified real-world records.
